New Year's Eve Activities

2016 is fast approaching, which means it’s time to start making plans for New Year’s Eve. Whether you’re hosting a party, cooking a dinner, or looking for something totally different, here are some things you can do to make sure you have some fun ringing in the new year.

If you’re throwing your own party, here are some activities to keep your guests entertained:

Ask Guests to Write Predictions for the New Year

2015 was full of surprises, and 2016 is bound to be the same. Whether it’s election results, celebrity news, or things that will happen for them personally, predicting what could happen in 2016 is a great conversation starter.

Game: Never Have I Ever Instagrammed

Instagram was one of the biggest social media sites of 2015. There’s tons of cliche Instagram pictures people post, from food pics to selfies. In this game, you say “Never have I Instagrammed…” and then one cliche post you haven’t done. Anyone that has posted the cliche has to take a drink!

Go out to dinner

Many restaurants offer a special menu for NYE, often times featuring three courses for one price! What better way to celebrate the last day of 2015 with a delicious meal?

Make a memory jar

Here’s a fun DIY for anyone crafty! Decorate a mason jar, and write some of your favorite memories of 2015 on slips of paper to stick in it. It’s so fun to look back and remember all the good times you had, and throughout 2016, whenever you’re feeling down, pulling out a memory to read will be an instant pick-me-up.

Do something adventurous from your bucket list

Everyone has a bucket list, but not so many people actually accomplish the things on them. Now is the perfect time to finally check something off your list, be it something crazy like skydiving, or something small like taking a cooking class or learning a new language. Don’t have a bucket list? Make a list of things you want to do in 2016!

Comedy show

Check out the calendar of events at some of your local clubs and lounges. A New Year’s Eve comedy show is bound to be funny, especially if the comedian is making fun of all the crazy pop culture things that happened in 2015, from Saint West to the infamous Starbucks red cups controversy.

Fireworks downtown

If you live near a city, there’s a 99.9% chance there’s going to be an AWESOME fireworks display!

We know NYE is always fun but don’t forget to have your Phonetic specs with you to protect your eyes from the blue light your phone or other electronic devices emit! Check out our selection here.
