Pittsburgh… an emerging Tech Hub? It’s hard to believe the “Steel City” could be one of the next largest tech hubs in upcoming years… or is it? It’s not a secret that Pittsburgh was behind in the technology industry, but they are currently getting ahead and there’s no stopping them. Below we’ve listed 5 reasons why Pittsburgh is the next tech hub. Let us know your thoughts! Don’t be surprised if you hear Pittsburgh and technology in the same sentence in future years.

  • Alphalab is based in Pittsburgh. It is currently one of the country’s leading accelerators. 
  • Carnegie Mellon and University of Pittsburgh are fundamental parts in the tech development.
  • Google and Apple both have a growing presence in the “City of Bridges”.
  • Uber’s driverless-car research is starting in Pittsburgh.
  • Facebook is opening an office for research purposes in the “City of Champions”. The research will be for its virtual reality platform, Oculus.
